For the third straight year, Schindler staff have rallied with enthusiasm and passion to help raise money in support of men’s health. In 2009, Schindler staff raised more than $4,800 for Movember, an Australian charity whose main benefactors are Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia and Beyond Blue.

In true Schindler style, we set ourselves an ambitious target to double our 2008 total of $3,000. There were some great individual totals, Keenan Badger topped individual funds raised with $420 and Colin Carty with $300. There were some fantastic team totals as well. The Human Resources team raised $530 with their Triple-S campaign (Stemi – Suvlaki – Sale) and the Marketing team’s carwash and cupcake day raised over $475. In total more than 30 Mo Bros and Mo Sistas took part this year, everyone lending their time and support as much as they could. A lot of fun was had in the process of raising awareness for this serious cause.

The serious side of Movember is that men are often very proud and stubborn when it comes to their own health. They think they are bullet-proof and invincible. If you are a male (and let’s face it, most of us at Schindler are) we encourage you to speak to other males about your health and share your feelings openly. It can be a very rewarding experience and you may be surprised to learn that the others have similar experiences and issues and taking about them can only help.
